Attorneys from the International Employment Practice Group at Fisher Phillips presented free webinars designed for employers and human resource professionals whose organizations employ workers internationally. These hour long webinars addressed issues of significance to today’s global employer.
Employment Law in Turkey and Several Middle Eastern Countries
Companies and organizations of all sizes and industries are increasingly branching out to the Middle East and Turkey. This webinar addressed issues of the greatest importance to multi-national employers who are doing business or considering doing business in these locations. Topics covered included: cultural differences, human resources practices, recruiting, employment contracts, employee and applicant entitlements, employment environment, and separation of employment.
What Employers Need to Know about Canadian Employment Law
As U.S. employers cross the border to the north, we step into a vastly different employment law environment. This webinar highlighted Canada’s employment laws, including how Canada’s laws and practices are different from the United States, and how the rules can vary from province-to-province. The presentation addressed laws related to all aspects of employment law, including: recruiting, employment agreements, statutory and common law employment rights, employee separations and reductions in force, and employee benefits issues.
Best Practices for Assigning Expatriates Abroad
This webinar provided solutions to the complex issues that face business leaders, HR professionals, benefits managers and in-house counsel who send employees on global assignments. Managing this process requires understanding of contract, tax, benefits and the various and evolving employment laws of countries outside of the United States. Topics included: secondment agreements and international assignment letters; how international laws can affect creating and managing these arrangements and how U.S. “long-arm statutes” protect U. S. citizens working abroad; tax and social security issues that face both employers and employees; and best practices for the global employer.
International Trade Secret, Confidentiality and Restrictive Covenant Issues
This webinar was designed for human resources professionals and employment lawyers who have employees overseas. Topics covered included: how different countries treat confidential business information and employee restrictive covenants; the impact of that variation on global businesses; and strategies for preparing employment agreements to use with a multi-national workforce. The speakers highlighted key jurisdictions in which many US companies do business and that reflect the variety of approaches to these issues that exist around the world.
These hour long webinars are free but registration is required. Once your registration is complete you will receive an email confirmation with instructions on how to join the webinar. Participation in each of these webinars has been approved for one hour of HRCI credit.
