In a recent story by The Associated Press Atlanta attorney Lorie Maring provided guidance for businesses that want to buy healthcare insurance from an association. Maring cautioned businesses not to rush into the decision. Specifically, she said: “The states are changing their rules to make it difficult or impossible” to set up an association health plan, or AHP. “While it might be possible now to set up an AHP in a given state, that might not be the case in the future.” Maring told the reporter she anticipates 2020 as being a more realistic date for joining an AHP.
