TAMPA (December 15, 2017) – Steven M. Bernstein, partner in the Tampa office of Fisher Phillips, was installed as Chair of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. He takes on this role for a one-year term, effective December 14, 2017.
“I have been involved with the Chamber for a number of years, and admire the important work this group does in support of businesses throughout our region,” said Bernstein. “I hope to fulfill the Chamber’s vision to remain a vibrant business hub for the community and be a catalyst for positive change on behalf of our members. As we move forward with these ideals, we will be steadfast in our goal to always be inclusive and to be a strong advocate for businesses in the Greater Tampa Bay region.”
The mission of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce is to serve its members and enhance the community by building business success. The group has a long history under different names, with a goal of an engaged and inclusive community driven by business prosperity.
“Steve has a diverse and successful track record of leading several areas of our organization over the last decade,” said president and CEO Bob Rohrlack. “Couple that with his commitment to the Tampa business community at large, and I can’t think of a better Chairman to lead us in year two of our 10-year vision plan, Vision 2026.”
Bernstein, who is past president of the Academy of Florida Management Attorneys, maintains a traditional labor practice in which he represents employers throughout the United States in both state and federal courts, as well as before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and other state and federal agencies. He was recently named Labor and Employment Lawyer of the Year for the Tampa region by Best Lawyers in America.
Previously, Bernstein worked for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and with the Minority Staff of the U.S. Senate Labor Committee.
Bernstein says that he hopes to build strong relationships not only in Tampa but throughout the entire Bay area by working cooperatively with other business organizations.
“I’m a strong believer in collaboration, and I believe that uniting our efforts will give us greater strength and accomplishment,” added Bernstein. “I look forward to working with the many dedicated people – both volunteers and staff – that make the Chamber such a vital part of the Tampa Bay business community.”
