SHRM-Columbus HR Symposium – Columbus, GA
Event
9.24.13
Educational and entertaining? Can those two words co-exist for employment law training? Yes!!! Come join us for the 2013 Employment Law Update where attorneys from Fisher Phillips will present the following three sessions that are important to your success as a human resources professional.
Sex, Lies & INVESTIGATE THIS!!!
Driven by video vignettes, this session reviews and dissects a workplace sexual harassment complaint that comes from an under-performing employee who was in the midst of being counseled. The counseling session takes a turn when the employee complains that she was sexually harassed by her manager and that the manager had been retaliating against her when she eventually rejected his advances. Watch and learn as the investigation unfolds and the human resources manager ultimately brings it to a close after navigating through a variety of unexpected twists and turns.
The Collision of MySpace, YourSpace, & OurSpace: An Employer’s Guide to Social Media
Social media in the workplace continues to be a hot topic with ever-changing challenges. This session will walk you through the numerous issues that employers and human resources must be aware of when trying to stay on top of the social media phenomenon. Make sure that you understand the various ways social media is invading your business and ensure that you know which lines can and can’t be crossed.
Lessons From the Real World
This will be an “around the horn” session where you learn from the mistakes and challenges of others by examining some real life scenarios that have recently played out in the court system (for example, the Paula Deen lawsuit). This will be a fun and interactive look at common issues that you face in your day-to-day world as a human resources professional. See how the facts played out in court in a variety of different cases and receive guidance to keep you and your company away from judges and juries.
