In an interview with Construction Dive, Catharine Morisset discusses the impacts legalized recreational marijuana laws have on contractors and their ability to keep jobsites safe.
She explains that it’s critical to train supervisors to recognize certain behaviors signaling impairment, and “contractors – and indeed all employers – may rely on managers to determine when there is a reasonable suspicion that an employee is under the influence while working.”
Catherine also notes that updating and reviewing policies annually will help employers adapt an up-to-date approach based on continually changing regulations and the jurisdictions in which they operate.
