San Francisco Partner Comments on Supreme Court Decision on Encino Motorcars v. Navarro

The Bloomberg Law article “Supreme Court Made It Easier to Nix Overtime Claims, Sometimes,”  explores the Supreme Court decision in Encino Motorcars LLC v. Navarro. The Court ruled that service advisors employed by auto dealerships are not guaranteed overtime protections when engaged in promoting repair services. Wendy McGuire Coats, who represented Encino Motorcars, tells reporters that the decision “balances how a court decides whether a minimum wage or overtime exemption applies. It eliminated a ‘thumb on the scale’ in favor of employees.”
