“I am not convinced that the defense of the executive order is consistent with these responsibilities, nor am I convinced that the executive order is lawful,” she said.Stephen Roppolo, managing partner of the San Antonio and Houston offices of management-side labor and employment law firm Fisher Phillips, told employers that workers from named countries might not be readmitted to the U.S. once they leave, despite their documentation.
“If stopped by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, or any other law enforcement officer, you should instruct them to be prepared to cooperate and present evidence of their U.S. immigration documentation and legal status,” Roppolo said.
