In the article, “Number of Foreign Work Visas Will Likely Shrink Under Trump,” featured in the Memphis Business Journal, Partner David Jones weighed in on Trump's plans to tighten U.S. borders and protect American jobs.
When it comes to Trump's plans to build a wall separating the U.S. from Mexico, David said, "That won't go anywhere without congressional support."
But, other policies such as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which allows immigrants who came to the U.S. as undocumented children to get renewable work visas, could be eliminated through executive action.
David estimated there are 728,000 individuals in the DACA program.
"Presumably, the majority are working under DACA work authorization, so that's 728,000 members of the workforce who wouldn’t be working — potentially a huge impact on employers," he said.
