In an interview with Modern Healthcare, Laurel Cornell weighs in on a judge’s preliminary injunction of the healthcare vaccine mandate–which requires healthcare facilities that accept Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements to be fully vaccinated by Jan. 4. Laurel–who co-authored the firm’s recent insight titled Court Blocks Healthcare Vaccine Mandate Across the Nation: A Game Plan for Healthcare Employers–said that employers should continue to prepare for the vaccine rule and be prepared to act quickly if it is reinstituted. Additionally, Laurel advises that employers should be mindful of any local and state laws, which may not necessarily be impacted by the federal lawsuit.
