In an interview with Albany’s Spectrum News 1, Melissa Camire weighs in on New York State’s salary transparency law, which passed the state legislature and is now awaiting the governor’s signature.
The law, which follows similar laws in New York City as well as those in several other states, would require companies to disclose both salaries for new hires and existing pay data. “You'll be able to compare positions as well, so not only are you seeing what this employer is paying, you're seeing what the other employers are paying," Melissa explains. "People will make more considered decisions when they're applying for jobs and, ultimately, accepting jobs."
