Mark Gomsak in EHS Today on Opioids in the Workplace

The EHS Today article “Safety Leadership Conference 2017: Opioids in the Workplace,” covered a presentation that Mark Gomsak delivered at the event. Mark talked about how opioids come with a list of different side effects and they can have a big impact in the workplace. In 2016, there were nearly 4.5 billion such prescriptions written in the U.S. 

Mark said there are five key components to an effective workplace substance abuse program: written policy, effective and accurate drug testing, employee education, supervisor training and an employee assistance program.
