Los Angeles Attorney Discusses How Employers Can Navigate the Ever-Changing PTO Landscape

In an interview with Law360, Aymara Ledezma shares her insight on how employers can walk the line between offering quality PTO policies and also complying with various leave laws. Aymara explains that a growing trend is unlimited PTO, but employers should still have a clear policy for this flexible approach. "You want to make sure that you have certain limitations, like unlimited PTO needs to be approved in advance so that you don't have employees just not showing up to work whenever they feel like because they have 'unlimited time' off." She also notes that employers should have separate buckets for PTO since sick time is statutorily required in a lot of states.
