Legal Issues Facing Schools: Sex, Gender, Sexual Orientation & Transgender Status     

Steve Roppolo will be a guest speaker at Tennessee Association of Independent Schools' (TAIS) workshop on September 21, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee.

This workshop will provide a comprehensive introduction and overview of an increasingly important topic for schools.

It will include:

• definitions of sex, gender and discrimination 
• a review of relevant federal laws (Title VII and Title IX) that protect the rights of employees and students in these areas 
• the application and evolution of these laws, including some state and municipal laws 
• sex/gender issues facing private schools 
• options for schools dealing with sex/gender issues, including both employees and students
