LOS ANGELES, CA (July 5, 2013) – Lawyers of Color Inc. recently selected 100 early- to mid-career minority attorneys under the age of 40 from the Western Region to its inaugural “Hot List,” and Fisher Phillips is very pleased to announce Kristen J. Nesbit has been named to this group.
Nesbit is an associate in the firm’s Los Angeles office where she concentrates her practice on employment litigation and client counseling. Her practice focuses on representing employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour matters, and wrongful termination.
“Kristen is one of our top young attorneys. She has represented public entities, private corporations and individuals in both state and federal courts with a consistent record of success. This is a well-deserved honor,” said Todd B. Scherwin, managing partner for the Fisher Phillips office in Los Angeles.
Nesbit has represented various employers before the Workers Compensation Appeals Board where she has successfully defended clients against Labor Code Section 132a claims. She also advises employers on all aspects of employment related matters, including hiring, company layoffs, workers compensation benefits and claims, developing employment policies and handbooks, and employee discipline and termination.
Prior to joining Fisher Phillips, she practiced at a general civil litigation firm with an emphasis on employment law. Nesbit earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a juris doctor from Loyola Law School.
Attorneys on the list were chosen through a two-pronged process. The selection committee spent months reviewing nominations and researching bar publications and legal blogs to identify promising candidates. Nominations were accepted from mentors, peers and colleagues.
