K.C. Royals Honor the Wife of a Fisher Phillips Partner

On September 14, 2018, Nancy Holland, wife of Fisher Phillips Kansas City Regional Managing Partner Jim Holland, was honored by the Major League Baseball team, The Kansas City Royals, for her tireless charitable work on behalf of the American Heart Association. Nancy was selected as a part of the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat program honoring those who play a vital role in the local community.   

Nancy has suffered three heart attacks, and was recently diagnosed with a condition known as Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD), a newly discovered health problem that primarily impacts females in their 30’s and 40’s who exhibit no other risk factors for heart disease.  Nancy has responded to her condition with tenacity and is dedicated to helping others through her volunteer work with the American Heart Association and the Johnson County HeartSafe Foundation.  Among her many activities, she promotes SCAD awareness and advocates for CPR training and AED machines in the workplace. 

As a result of Nancy’s harrowing experiences, Fisher Phillips took action in 2015. The firm installed AEDs in its offices across the country and continues to train employees in CPR and the use of AEDs. The firm advocates for other companies to follow suit and Jim continues to campaign for CPR training and AED machines in the workplace. He told The American Lawyer, “my primary objective is just to try to get the word out that we did it, and that we hope to encourage other firms to do the same.”
