Shayna Balch was quoted in Phoenix Business Journal on March 19, 2015. The article “How to Keep March Madness from Upsetting the Workplace” offered advice on how to limit distractions in the workplace, spurred by March Madness.
Shayna said the event may cause disruption in the workplace. She identified a few problems that come along with March Madness, namely a loss of productivity and running afoul of state gambling laws.
“March Madness is very costly for employers," Shayna said. “I've seen some recent statistics that say there is more than $100 million in lost wages to employees that are essentially on their computer and catching the latest scores and following all of the teams, completing brackets."
