Gimme a break: vacation and paid time off plans
The United States is hardly a vacation nation, offering less time off than many developed countries. Even so, the typical U.S. employee with paid vacation used just a little more than half of his or her allotted time off in the previous 12 months, according to one survey. Then there are the employees who take paid time off the minute they earn it. Federal and state laws complicate the issues by mandating additional forms of time off. This roundtable will address uses and abuses of vacation benefits and vacation vignettes including:
- Whether to offer a traditional vacation policy or a paid time off bank, or to follow the trend of offering unlimited time off;
- How to create or change an existing policy;
- The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s enforcement powers and confusing guidance on “use it or lose it” vacation policies;
- Legal issues at the intersection of various forms of time off.
Don’t forget to bring us your questions!!
Registration is required.
