Hagood Tighe, a partner in the Columbia office, was honored as one of the "50 Most Influential People for 2011" by Greater Columbia Business Monthly Magazine for his work as Board Chairman of the Central Carolina Community Foundation. The Foundation is a nonprofit organization that distributes grants and scholarships and links the resources of donors, nonprofits and community leaders to areas of need. In fiscal year 2011, the Foundation invested more than $10 million in grants, scholarships and program services.
Under the leadership of Hagood and President and CEO JoAnn Turnquist the group also created initiatives including Literacy 2030, Talk About Giving and the Graduation Imperative. Literacy 2030 unites literacy service providers, educators, businesses, legislators and volunteers to create 100 percent literacy in the Midlands by the year 2030. Talk About Giving fosters a generous spirit in the next generation of philanthropists by changing the conversation from "I want" to "Let's give." Graduation Imperative is a regional collaboration that aims to increase two- and four-year college graduation rates and to connect talent within Columbia for a more vibrant community.
