Fisher Phillips Partner Discusses Resurgent Efforts to Pass Salary History Bans

In an interview with Law360, Kathleen Caminiti discusses wage and hour-focused bills that some states may resurrect this year. While Nevada and Connecticut have passed laws banning employers from asking job applicants about their salary histories, at least nine other states have tried and failed to pass similar bills. Kathleen says she expects advocates to continue to reintroduce these measures, especially with increased focus on gender and racial equity. “It really is a function of the focus on pay equity during the past five-plus years,” Kathleen says. “I would envision that they would continue to be reintroduced.”
