COLUMBIA, SC (April 15, 2009) - The national labor and employment law firm Fisher Philips organized a meeting between Sen. Jim DeMint and state business leaders to discuss concerns about the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) and proposed compromise bills. The meeting took place in the law firm's Columbia office Wednesday, April 15.
"Many South Carolina businesses are rightfully concerned about the potential impact of the proposed Employee Free Choice Act and these participants wanted to voice those concerns with our Senator," said partner Stephen C. Mitchell. "Senator DeMint understands how EFCA could radically reshape labor relations and he shared his views on the legislation with state business leaders." The venue provided some of the top South Carolina opinion leaders an opportunity to participate in a free and open conversation about the legislation with Sen. DeMint. Sen. DeMint, who opposes EFCA, discussed its potential negative ramifications and steps businesses can take to educate the public on the adverse affect of this proposed legislation.
