Students, family and faculty gather at firm's Midtown headquarters
ATLANTA – Fisher Phillips hosted a reception for incoming law students of Georgia State University College of Law on April 12 at the firm's new Midtown headquarters. Nearly 200 students, family and faculty attended the event.
Every year, the College of Law hosts the reception called "Brief Encounter." Fisher Phillips has a long association with the school from its first entering class in 1982. Over the years, the firm has hired several GSU Alumni. Currently, six lawyers in two offices graduated from the Georgia State University College of Law. The firm also was the Premier Sponsor of the College of Law 25th Anniversary in 2007.
Steven Kaminshine, dean of the law school, said: "Holding this event in a law firm such as Fisher Phillips is exciting for our incoming students. They're all envisioning futures where they come into this type of office to work. All of us at GSU College of Law appreciate the attorneys opening up their offices to help students start this new chapter of their lives in a very positive manner."
Fisher Phillips Chairman and Managing Partner Roger Quillen said: "Ours was one of the first of the larger firms to recognize the value of GSU College of Law's strategy to attract mature students who were already successful in other careers. The attorneys coming out of the college truly understand business and are ready to provide valuable counsel to clients. We're proud of the long association with the college and have been fortunate to have some of their best students become some of our best lawyers."
