Fisher Phillips Elects Four New Partners

ATLANTA, GA (January 4, 2011) - Fisher Phillips has announced the election to partner of four attorneys. The promotions to partner were effective January 1, 2011.

Gregory D. Ballew is a partner in the Kansas City office. His practice involves defending employers in discrimination cases before state and federal administrative agencies and courts, as well as advising employers regarding compliance with various employment laws. Ballew represents employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, and in labor arbitration proceedings throughout the United States. Since 1999, Ballew has served as a contributing editor for the American Bar Association legal treatise The Developing Labor Law. He is a graduate of the Centurions Leadership Program of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. Ballew is "AV" Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and was listed in Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers - Rising Stars in 2008 and 2009. He earned his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1995.
Lonnie D. Giamela is a partner in the Irvine office. He counsels employers on issues including employment discrimination, medical leaves, wage/hour laws, employee handbook preparation, and mass layoffs. He has represented clients before governmental agencies, such as the Department of Fair Employment and Housing and the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement, as well as state, federal and appellate courts. Prior to joining the firm, Giamela worked for United States Congressman James E. Rogan, the Office of Legislative and International Affairs at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and the Fox News Channel. While in law school, Lonnie served as a Staff Editor of the Georgetown Journal on Gender and the Law. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2003.
Steve A. Miller is a partner in the Chicago office. His practice involves representing management in all areas of labor and employment law, including employment discrimination, employment contracts, employment law compliance, and traditional labor law. Miller has extensive experience representing management in ADA Title III lawsuits. The majority of his practice is before federal and state courts and alternative dispute forums throughout the United States. He also defends management against charges filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and related state agencies. A significant portion of Miller's practice is devoted to counseling management, prior to litigation, on issues related to employees and the workplace. During law school, he served as the Production Editor for the Michigan Journal of International Law. Miller earned his law degree in 1997 from the University of Michigan Law School.
Danielle S. Urban is a partner in the Denver office. Her practice involves representation of employers in wrongful termination, employment discrimination and harassment, covenants not to compete, breach of employment agreements, and other employment disputes before courts and administrative agencies. Urban has provided training and advice to employers regarding various employment matters, and has performed healthcare and benefits transactional work. Prior to law school, Urban worked for the Health Care Financing Administration (now CMS) overseeing Medicare managed care plans. She earned her law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2002.
