Fisher Phillips Columbia Attorney Elected President of South Carolina Women Lawyers Association

COLUMBIA (February 1, 2018) – Fisher Phillips announced today attorney Sheila Willis has been named president of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association (SCWLA).
Willis was chosen to lead the organization based on her commitment to SCWLA and its goals. She previously served as president-elect, secretary and a member of the board of directors for SCWLA.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, SCWLA’s core mission is to enhance the status, influence and effectiveness of women lawyers in South Carolina through advocacy, action and association. The organization consists of over 900 members and an active 18-member board of directors.
“Sheila is commited to supporting and assisting her female peers across the state,” said Stephen Mitchell, managing partner of the Columbia office of Fisher Phillips. “Her passion for law combined with her unfailing drive make her a natural leader. Fisher Phillips is proud to support her and we look forward to what she will achieve as president.”
At Fisher Phillips, Willis represents employers in a variety of labor and employment matters, providing advice and counsel on employment discrimination and pay equity, as well as litigating employment matters in federal and state court. In addition to her involvement with SCWLA, Willis serves on the board of directors for the Columbia Society for Human Resource Management and is Secretary Treasurer for the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers’ Division.
Additionally, she has previously served as the state-wide chair of the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers’ Division’s Cinderella Project, a group that provides gently worn prom dresses for young women who lack the financial resources to buy their own. She is also active in the Richland County Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Junior League of Columbia.
Willis received her law and undergraduate degrees from the University of South Carolina.
