Fisher Phillips Attorney Karen Luchka Wingo Recognized for Dedicated Service to Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands

COLUMBIA, SC (November 17, 2014) – Fisher Phillips announces that attorney Karen Luchka Wingo of the Columbia office has received the Girl Scouts Honor Pin from the Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands council.
The Honor Pin recognizes a volunteer who has significantly contributed to meeting one or more council goals in membership growth and retention, fund development or increased community visibility in two or more geographic areas.
Kim Hutzell, President/CEO, Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands notes, “Karen received this award because of her outstanding work on the council’s nominating and board development committees in which she has led fundraising initiatives and approached donors for gifts to support the work of the Girl Scouts. She is an extraordinary Girl Scout ambassador and champion.”
In addition to her service to the Girl Scouts, Wingo serves as the Vice President of the Columbia Society for Human Resource Management. She also volunteers her time as a judge at mock trial competitions hosted by the South Carolina Bar. Wingo is a partner at Eastlake Community Church and serves the church in various capacities, including as a regular greeter.
Wingo is a labor and employment attorney who represents management and employers in cases pending in both state and federal court, as well as in agency proceedings. She focuses her practice on providing practical and proactive advice to clients aimed at minimizing the risk of litigation and improving employee relations. She provides training to human resources professionals, managers and supervisors on the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, harassment and discrimination, social networking and electronic workforce issues, and many other employment and labor related subjects. Wingo is also a frequent lecturer at seminars on a variety of employment related topics, as well as legal ethics.
