The Department of Labor revealed its long-awaited proposal to expand access to overtime for an estimated 1 million workers. To address the impact on employers, Atlanta attorney Marty Heller spoke with The Associated Press for an article that was picked up by The Washington Post, The New York Times, ABC News and other national and local media outlets. He tells reporters, “The final regulations are likely to be similar to the proposal, but there may be changes made in response to the comments.” And, while some businesses may explore legal options to limit the financial impact of the new proposal, Marty recommends employers think about the impact they could have on morale. He adds, “The current job market is demanding that employers not just comply with the law but make decisions to be competitive with one another.”
