Denver Partner Examines Grocery Store Robot – and Its Impact

Grocery stores could be the next frontier for testing artificial intelligence in the workplace. “Marty” is a robot that can be found trolling grocery aisles, looking for spills, on alert of tripping hazards, and scanning shelves to check on product. In a contributed article for RoboticsTomorrow, Denver partner Sue Schaecher outlines the impact on employers and their employees of robots in the workplace. While some human tasks can be replaced by Marty, it doesn’t mean humans are out of work. In the article she states, “As the technology grows and additional functions like stocking shelves become automated, workers may be freed up to perform other tasks (including deploying and maintaining the robots).”
