December 1, 2016 is the effective date for changes to federal wage and hour regulations that will have a direct impact on businesses big and small. These changes double the minimum salary required to satisfy the pay requirement for the white collar exemptions (executive, administrative and professional). Currently, the minimum salary that employers must pay for employees treated as exempt under the white collar exemptions is $455 per week. Beginning December 1, the minimum salary requirement increases to $913 per week. Lawsuits have been filed and Congress has taken action in an attempt to stop the implementation of these changes. We cannot predict the outcome of these efforts. For that reason, we are encouraging employers to expect implementation of the rules and to continue to prepare for the scheduled changes.
We invite you to attend this seminar to learn more about the impact of the changes and strategies to ensure compliance. We also will provide information to help you better assess your overall wage and hour compliance.
This seminar will cover:
- Overview of exemptions
- The changes to the regulations
- The job positions likely affected
- The impact on other exemptions
- Overall compliance issues
