In a televised interview with WSYX in Columbus, partner Steve Loewengart discusses the potential legal liability area school districts face when reopening amid the pandemic. He explains that with the County’s rapidly rising cases of COVID-19, “[t]here will be a lot of filings of workers compensation claims if (teachers) do get sick.” He goes on to note that causation will be difficult to prove and refers to the current situation as being “uncharted territory." In the end, he warns that if schools re-open without taking the proper precautions to meet safety guidelines then they are most certainly opening themselves up to the potential for lawsuits.
