Co-Chair of Cannabis Taskforce Weighs-in on Compensation Trends for Cannabis Industry Workers

In an interview with New York Cannabis Insider, Catharine Morisset discusses salary trends for cannabis workers as New York State prepares to roll out its legal cannabis industry. During the interview, she draws from the industry experience in her home state of Washington, which has had a legal cannabis market for a decade. Catharine explains that jobs in Washington “….started off as just really getting minimum wage, and then as you saw higher end retailers – or those trying to be competitive – they moved to a minimum set wage plus tips.” Catharine added that “[t]he cannabis industry appears to be delivering on jobs paying middle class wages comparable to industries like manufacturing, but doesn’t require apprenticeships or long training processes.”
