In an interview with Bloomberg Law, David Klass commented on the outcome of a Fifth Circuit case involving an employee’s right to keep a gun in his car while parked on workplace property. The article describes that there are state-by-state variations when it comes to this right, and Klass explained that “a majority of states permit employers to discipline or fire workers if they discover firearms in vehicles parked on their property." But he also pointed out that there are “about 20 states that restrict such employer actions.” Klass goes on to note that “[m]any of the state laws haven’t been tested in court in part because employers rarely try to police whether their workers have firearms in their vehicles.”
