In an interview with SHRM, Todd Logsdon, co-chair of Fisher Phillips Workplace Safety Practice, discusses what employers should do when states ban local mask mandates. As some states consider laws banning local governments from reinstating mask mandates, Todd explains that employers should follow local mandates, but discern whether new measures are legal requirements or guidance, and whether they apply to the workplace. Todd also adds, “The most conservative approach for employers would be to require universal masking at this point.”
