Fisher Phillips attorney Michelli Rivera has been appointed as co-chair of the Georgia Bar’s Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Women in the Profession committee for the 2017-18 Bar year.
The YLD Women in the Profession committee’s mission is to ensure the success of women attorneys by providing a forum for women to address issues and concerns, sponsoring professional development programs, organizing networking activities and supporting organizations and causes that advance the status and progress of women in the legal profession.
Founded in 1947, the YLD was previously called the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) and was created to further the goals of the State Bar of Georgia while also encouraging the interest and participation of younger members. The YLD has 25 committees that provide service to the public and the Bar through its various projects and programs.
“Michelli demonstrates a genuine commitment to helping her community and peers, and her hard work exemplifies the YLD motto of ‘working for the profession and the public,’” said Bert Brannen, managing partner of the Atlanta office. “Her dedication to the profession and our clients is remarkable. We are proud to support her and to show our continued support of women in the profession through her efforts and the committee’s initiatives.”
Rivera represents clients in all areas of labor and employment law, including compliance and counseling, employment discrimination claims, wage and hour disputes and audits and Fair Credit Reporting Act claims. She also continues to serve as the class of 2014 co-chair for the Georgia State University Law Alumni Committee.
