ATLANTA & PORTLAND (January 26, 2009) - Fisher Phillips, a national labor and employment law firm, announced its second new office opening in less than a week. Following the opening of a new office in Louisville, Kentucky last week, the firm is expanding into Portland, Maine in a merger with prominent labor and employment boutique, Moss Shapiro. Fisher Phillips' Portland office is managed by Partner Jonathan Shapiro, joined by five other Moss Shapiro attorneys: Partners Eric Uhl, Melinda Caterine, and David Strock, and Of Counsels Philip Moss and Jennifer Sawyer Norvell. The effective date for Moss Shapiro's merger with Fisher Phillips is January 26, 2009.

Last week, Fisher Phillips announced its expansion into Louisville with the addition of four partners from Greenebaum, Doll & McDonald PLLC. Since then, the office has grown to seven attorneys, all of whom practice labor and employment law.

Fisher Phillips Chairman and Managing partner Roger Quillen said, "Our new Portland, Maine office broadens our presence in the Northeastern region of the U.S. and represents our initial foray into New England. We have many clients along the Eastern Seaboard. We have wanted to expand our regional footprint into New England for some time, but we were willing to wait until we could open with the right group of lawyers. Moss Shapiro's attorneys have been very successful in the region and they allow Fisher Phillips to launch operations at the highest professional level."

Mr. Shapiro, the Managing Partner in the Portland office, said, "The national reach of Fisher Phillips with its strategically located offices will be a great enhancement for our national practice, and our current and new clients will benefit from the depth and breadth of experience and knowledge that the firm offers in all areas of the increasingly complex arena of labor and employment law. This merger is a perfect fit for us because our focus has always been on providing the highest quality legal representation for management in labor and employment law matters."

The Portland attorneys practice in all aspects of employment, labor and employee benefits law and litigation on behalf of management. They have represented management before state and federal courts and administrative agencies throughout New England and other areas of the U.S. The attorneys have earned numerous honors including being selected by their peers to be included in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business and Best Lawyers in America for Labor & Employment Law, and being selected for inclusion in New England Super Lawyers and Who's Who Legal USA -- Management Labour & Employment. Moss Shapiro also has been named to the BTI Consulting Group's Client Service A-Team and the firm has repeatedly received the rank of "1" for management-side labor and employment law firms in Maine by international legal publisher, Chambers & Partners.

In Louisville, the new office managing partner is Thomas J. Birchfield. He is joined by Jeffrey A. Savarise, who will chair the Fisher Phillips Automotive Manufacturing Practice Group. He chaired a similar group at Greenebaum. Mr. Savarise provides preventive maintenance and employment training programs designed specifically for the automotive industry. They are joined by partners Craig P. Siegenthaler and George D. Adams, Of Counsel Katherine A. Hessenbruch and Todd B. Logsdon, and associate William C. Vail, Jr. Mr. Siegenthaler was the chair for the Collective and Class Action Team at Greenebaum.
