EEOC Background Check Policy Under Fire from AGs
Business Insurance quoted Peter Gillespie, of counsel in Chicago, on August 26 in the article, “EEOC Background Check Policy Under Fire from AGs.”
The article focused on the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's policy on criminal background checks being under fire from nine Republican state attorneys general who asked the federal agency to reconsider its policy and dismiss two lawsuits.
During the wait on appeal, Peter noted that he did not expect a significant change in the EEOC's policy.
Instead, the EEOC may change its focus in future litigation and "look to see if they can't find a case where they've got a stronger set of facts and a concrete example of how an employer's polices have affected a specific individual,” Peter said.
