Prepare Now for OSHA's December 1, 2013 Employer Training Deadline Required By the New Hazard Communication Standard

In 2012, OSHA enacted its Global Harmonization Standard (GHS) which included a number of significant changes to its Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom 2012). These changes affect all employers utilizing hazardous chemicals at their worksites.  One of the major changes of the GHS requires employers to train their employees on the new “Safety Data Sheets” (SDS) by December 1, 2013. 

Fisher & Phillips Partner and former head of OSHA, Ed Foulke, presented a free webinar that helped prepare employers to meet their obligations under GHS and HazCom 2012. This webinar provided a detailed explanation of OSHA’s changes to the Hazard Communication Standard and discussd steps that your organization can take to meet your obligations under this new standard.  Although OSHA’s deadline for compliance is several months away, employers are already receiving the new SDSs and it is critical that your employees understand how to review these new SDSs.
