
Overview
Mike is a skilled advocate, litigator, and counselor who is devoted to reaching efficient solutions to real-world problems. Mike uses a team-oriented, results-focused approach to avoid and resolve disputes by emphasizing de-escalation and preventative compliance. He has extensive experience managing complex business and employment litigation involving a wide range of legal issues, including employment, antitrust, unfair competition, and business disputes. He has represented employers at all stages of litigation, from pre-suit demand through trial and appeal.
Mike’s background in higher education administration gives him unique insight and perspective when representing colleges and universities as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. He regularly counsels institutions on complex Title IX issues including policy development, grievance processes, appeals, supportive measures, risk avoidance, and the intersection with other laws such as Title VII, the Clery Act, and FERPA. Mike also represents colleges and universities with respect to faculty and staff employment matters, tenure disputes, student conduct, and crisis management.
Before joining Fisher Phillips, Mike was a litigator at an international law firm in Miami, where he managed complex cases from start to finish. He has also spent time as a student affairs administrator at the University of California and Northwood University, where he also taught various college-level classes and workshops on the theories of effective leadership.
